Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is a relatively new, advanced technology that uses single acoustic pressure waves, called shock waves, to treat musculoskeletal and dermatological conditions.

By delivering a mechanical stress to injured tissues, the therapeutic effects of shock waves on the musculoskeletal system are:

  • Reduction of pain
  • Improved blood circulation in the treated area (which is the basis for healing)
  • Reduction of chronic inflammation
  • Increased healing

Common conditions that shockwave therapy can treat:

  • Tendon problems such as Achilles tendon, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Calcified tendons
  • Shin splints
  • Hip pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Osteoarthritis
plantar fasciitis

Body Dynamics Health osteopaths are trained in the use of shockwave therapy and can discuss with you the potential benefits of incorporating this technology into your tailored treatment plan.
